On behalf of everyone in the T'ai Chi Ch'uan classes which meet in the Plainsboro Public Library twice a week, a generous donation was made to the Library on February 21, 2014. Plainsboro Free Public Library has its roots in the dreams of four women who pooled their talents, five hundred books and four old PTA bookshelves for a grand opening on June 5, 1964. Betty Jeffers, Clarice Knight, Priscilla Stitt and Janet Jeffers wrote the first chapter in Plainsboro Public Library's history.
At the time, there were approximately 350 homes in the community. The 1960 census figures record about 1,200 residents, many of whom worked for Walker Gordon Laboratory, a 2,300 acre dairy operation that supplied certified milk to central Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
TODAY, the community boasts 21,500 residents from far flung corners of the globe. The collection has grown to over 100,000 item in numerous languages. Programs support robotics, elementary science, math, music, drama and art.
